MouseTrap Car Vocabulary

These are some of the main vocabulary that we will be using through this project.

)Rotational Intertia-The tendency to rotate as a force is applied. The higher the rotational inertia, the more work and power is required to get the wheels up to speed.
)Acceleration-Increasing speed
)Momentum-Force or speed of movement
)Surface Friction-
)Fluid Friction-The friction between a solid object as it moves through a liquid or a gas
)Speed-To move, go, pass, or proceed with speed or rapidity
)Velocity-A measure of the rate of motion of a body expressed as the rate of change of its position in a particular direction with time. It is measured in metres per second, miles per hour, etc
)Mass-Bulk, size, expanse, or massiveness
)Kinetic Energy-The energy of motion.
)Potential Energy-Amount of useable energy within a body at rest.
)Bushing-A replaceable hardened steel tube used as a guide for various tools or parts, as a drill or valve rod.
)Axle-A shaft on which a wheel rotates
)Bearing-A mechanical device that supports another part and/or reduces friction
)Thrust Washer-Long-wearing flat bearings  that transmit and resolve axial forces in rotating mechanisms to keep components aligned along a shaft.
)Steering Alignment-
)Traction-The friction between a body and the surface on which it moves
)Center of Mass-The point at the exact center of an object's mass; often called the center of gravity
)Transmission-Transference of force between machines or mechanisms, often with changes of torque and speed
)Chassiy-A base frame
)Weight Distribution-Weight distribution is the apportioning of weight within a vehicle
)Power Output-A measure, usually in watts, of how much energy is modulated by a component
)Mechanical Advantage-The ratio of the force exerted by a machine to the force applied to it
